Welcome to Coombesheadstudios.
Coombeshead Studios is part of Coombeshead College in Newton Abbot Devon. Run by professional Sound Engineers, we provide top quality recording facilities, within the studio and on location, as well as a range of training courses in music and sound engineering.

A Little About Us...

Coombeshead Studios is a professional 128 track digital recording setup. We also employ older analogue recording technology where there is a need. We use a 32 channel Allen and Heath mixing console, and have about 10 smaller mixing consoles available for mobile use and equipment hire. We usually record to DigiDesign computer hardware, or Alesis ADAT digital tape technology.

We have about 25 professional quality microphones, including several condenser technology microphones for pro studio work and 4 shotgun mics for long distance sound recording/reinforcement, ideal for choirs, stage plays, pantomimes, conferences, barbershop quartets and on-location recordings.

As well as the studio itself, we have a quiet performance room with mic lines into the studio, plus an acoustically dead sound booth and an acoustically live hall providing natural reverb where required. Staging can be provided.

We also exist to support the training of young people in performing arts, music, sound & theatre technologies. All profits go to the provision of the equipment needed to keep this training relative to the current state of the industry, which education budgets are inadequate to do. We also aim to provide real life work experience for students in our commercial ventures. This allows students to not only apply their skills but also to make themselves and their abilities known to the professionals they work alongside, as we all know this is as valuable as the qualifications.
